Prayer is communicating with God our heavenly father. We can ask him to give us what he has already provided for us or we can simply thank him for who he is and who we are because of his great love for us.
Praying is saying to our father what he has said to us about us and about him. 1 Peter 2 says he has already given to us by his own divine power everything that pertains to life and godliness, but we must be aware or know that he has already done this. He has already provided in prayer, we do not ask the Father to provide, but acknowledge that he has already provided and we receive by faith.
We say to him based on our needs that "I know you have already provided riches, healing, joy, peace, forgiveness, etc., and I receive it from you. I believe those things that you have already provided are being manifested in my life according to me faith. Praying is saying what God has said, not begging, him to do what he has already done.
